Pastor Rocco Dapice
Rocco Dapice is a musician, songwriter, teacher, public speaker, former college professor, writer, husband, dad, and pastor of People's Church. Rocco and Jennifer are both native New Yorkers who met at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY. Rocco was a classical and jazz pianist; Jennifer a vocal major.
During a brief stint as a Disney World pianist, Rocco performed with jazz musicians: Bob Mintzer, Allen Vizzutti, Jiggs Whigham, and Jim Snidero, among others. Rocco’s original music is the revelation of a musically eclectic life -- a juncture of a diversity of styles -- from classical to jazz, pop to country. (Several songs can be downloaded from iTunes or Amazon.)
The ministry entered Rocco's heart when he was 19 years old, but he eluded this calling for nearly four years, during the music college years. After being accepted to the Eastman School of Music for graduate studies, Rocco instead attended seminary in the Midwest. Then for 10 years he taught music and theology on the college level. During that time the Dapices also traveled to over 300 churches across the country ministering in word and song in both rural and urban churches in 47 of the 50 states.
In the past few years, Rocco has been interviewed for The New York Times, US News & World Report, WPIX-TV, The Journal News (Gannett), The Daily Greenburgh, and "The Greenburgh Report" (WVOX). His writing has been published by Westchester Magazine, Outreach Magazine, Leadership Journal, Samaritan Ministries International, and other periodicals. In 2007 Rocco was voted into the Who's Who Registry of Executives and Professionals, and he is currently the chaplain to the Sleepy Hollow Ambulance Corp.
In 2006 the Dapices moved back to their home state of New York to launch People’s Church, a new nondenominational, musical church in Westchester County. The church began in Tarrytown, and in 2012 moved to Elmsford. Rocco and Jennifer have four children and live near White Plains, New York.
